Texas Ranger Badge
Back in the old days badges were not mass produced. Legend has it, that the early American law officer would make his own badge from a silver coin. Usually the Morgan silver dollar or the Mexican 8 Reales. The early Texas Ranger badges were made from the 8 Reales. They were also sometimes made by blacksmiths and gunsmiths. They were hand made and they were rustic. We follow this tradition to the letter. We make our own stamps just like in the 1800's. Each badge is hand stamped one stamp at a time and made on an oak stump right here in our studio in Fredericksburg, Texas. Each badge is hand cut from a real silver coin. This makes each badge unique with its own character. We try hard to make these replicas look and feel just like it's original counter part.
This is a very well made badge. Perfect for you collection or reenactment use.

That is a really neat item. I had no idea that rangers used to make their badges from coins! That's a great idea though. I guess you learn something new every day!

Thank you. We make them right here at Walleringbear Studio. They are made just the way they were made back then. Each hole is hand cut and the stamping is done one stamp at a time. We dome them on an old oak stump. We do not use any machine made dies. We even went to the trouble of making our own stamps.

Oh wow! This is another great piece that I may be interested in for my father's custom kitchen store. He is currently working on a rustic kitchen design for a client and I've been tasked with finding some original pieces to use as cabinet hardware. Do you keep inventory of things like this?
